Dr. Ka Kin Lee

Greetings, I’m Ka Kin from Hong Kong. In Chinese, Ka Kin means “a healthy family”—a mission that deeply resonates with me. I am also known to friends, colleagues and patients as Ricky, a name inspired by my dad, Richard.

In 2023, my wife and I relocated to Richmond, driven by our desire to find an excellent school for our four year old daughter. We were drawn to Richmond’s reputation for outstanding education and its vibrant, family-friendly community. The move has been incredibly rewarding, providing our child with a nurturing environment to learn and grow.

I first came to the UK in 2003 as a hospitality business student. After studying and working for eight years in the UK and experiencing various cultures, I returned to Hong Kong in 2011 for work and to stay close to my roots. However, I found myself trapped in the confines of a corporate office, where my health deteriorated due to the demands of a sedentary job. Neck and lower back pain, heartburn, bloating, and shortness of breath were my constant companions. The turning point arrived when I discovered chiropractic care, a revelation that changed my life’s course.

Chiropractic care provided me relief from chronic pain it identified a twisted pelvis and a “military neck,” which led to numbness and tingling in my arms. My journey to recovery was challenging, but every visit to the chiropractic office gave incremental improvements and hope for the future. Thanks to chiropractic care and diligent rehabilitation exercises, I’ve bid farewell to poor posture and reclaimed a normal, pain-free life.

Growing up in Hong Kong was an amazing experience, even from a medical point of view there are so many diverse doctrines, a true melting pot of Eastern Vs western medicine. However, inspired by my mother, a lifelong nurse, my family aligned more with western healthcare culture & I pursued a career dedicated to helping people live healthier lives. In 2018, I returned to the UK to follow my chiropractic dream. I pursued my chiropractic degree at AECC University College in Bournemouth, dedicating five years to understanding the art of healing and empowerment, and gaining a Master’s in chiropractic care.

Prior to my graduation, I had the opportunity to observe at The DISC Chiropractic clinic in Surbiton. My time shadowing Dr. David Brown, the Clinic Director, was inspirational. I was exposed to a wide range of disc and nerve-related conditions, each presenting unique challenges and requiring tailored treatments. I vividly remember a day when the clinic was bustling with patients, each with their own stories of pain and struggle.

Many patients were in debilitating pain on a level that we rarely saw in our training. Despite the severity and diversity of their conditions, Dr. Brown’s approach remained consistently compassionate and professional. Observing Dr. Brown, I saw firsthand the transformative power of advanced chiropractic care and the huge potential of technology to aid in our endeavours, I knew straight away this was the clinic that would challenge me to achieve my full potential.

As a registered chiropractor with the General Chiropractic Council and a member of the British Chiropractic Association, I am committed to continuous growth. I am expanding my skill set by learning techniques such as Applied Kinesiology and Dry Needling.

Fun Facts About Me:

  • I believe chiropractic care is for everyone, regardless of age or stage of life. This belief is deeply personal and rooted in my own family’s experiences. My wife, for instance, received chiropractic care during both her pre- and post-partum stages. Pregnancy can place significant strain on the body, leading to discomfort and pain. Regular chiropractic adjustments helped alleviate her back pain, improve her posture, and maintain overall wellness during her pregnancy. This not only made her pregnancy journey more comfortable but also contributed to a smoother delivery and recovery process.
  • Our commitment to chiropractic care extended to our daughter shortly after her birth. Newborns can experience musculoskeletal stress during the birthing process, which can lead to various issues such as colic, difficulty breastfeeding, and sleep disturbances. Gentle chiropractic adjustments helped ensure our daughter’s spine was properly aligned, promoting better sleep, improved digestion, and overall well-being. Witnessing the positive effects of chiropractic care on my wife and daughter reinforced my conviction that everyone can benefit from this holistic approach to health.
  • In my free time, you’ll often find my daughter and me exploring the expansive Richmond Park. This historic park, with its vast meadows, ancient trees, and abundant wildlife, has become our weekend sanctuary. We particularly enjoy the adventure of searching for its elusive rabbits, a fun and engaging way to connect with nature. Our explorations have not only deepened our bond but also instilled a love for the outdoors in my daughter.

My chiropractic odyssey continues, fuelled by a burning desire to bring well-being to others. Let’s embark on this journey to better health together.

Our Technology

A major factor in our clinics success with Advanced Back Injuries is our ability to use the multitude of equipment which we have available in our Surbiton Clinic. Often it is the combination of our technology that proves to be key in unlocking these tough cases.

Alongside Traditional Chiropractic Care, DISC clinicians can call upon Spinal Decompression Therapy (to traction Disc Injuries and Trapped Nerves), Instrument Assisted Adjusting (for a more gentle mobilisation effect) & Laser Therapy (to reduce Inflammation). These constitute the four pillars for our tried and tested protocols.
