James
James is the Senior Practitioner at The DISC Chiropractors, having spent over six years honing his skills under the directorship of his team leader and Head Chiropractor Dr. David Brown DC.
His clinical expertise includes:
- Assessing complex pain patterns.
- Treating degenerative patients.
- Disc Injury Triage.
- Identifying functional instabilities.
A local boy, James, grew up less than five miles from our branch. Starting life at Hinchley Wood School, with a strong sporting background, he notably competed at the Under-18 level for England’s Youth Basketball Team, leaving home at sixteen to live and train in their youth academy.
Throughout his athletic youth, James experienced multiple injuries which hampered his ability to train, this sparked his interest in understanding the human body and its recovery processes. These firsthand experiences fuelled his passion for sports rehabilitation and ignited a desire to help others overcome their physical challenges.
James’ interest in fitness and sports led him to pursue a BSc (Hons) degree in Sports Rehabilitation at the prestigious St Mary’s University in Twickenham graduating in 2018.
Upon graduating, James joined Disc Chiropractors in Surbiton, back when they were known as the ‘ProBack Surbiton’ branch, where he has converted and honed his rehabilitation knowledge into an expertise in musculoskeletal injuries.
Having been with us for 6 years he has fully embraced the chiropractic principles of structure, movement and function and has steadily progressed to being the Senior DISC Practitioner.
He plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth daily operations of the clinic, James works as Dr David’s right-hand-man, completing the day-to-day aspects of his role and allowing Dr David to focus on the more complex aspects of a clinical day.
Working as the de facto gatekeeper into Dr David’s Clinic for so many years has allowed James to absorb vast amounts of knowledge, often now seen workshopping complex cases with his team leader to drive better outcomes.
James has further distinguished himself by completing his Level 5 Mobilisation Certification for Thoracic and Lumbar Spines facilitating adjustive care alongside the chiropractors, with many patients requiring the gentler soft tissue approach afforded by the clinic technology, James is able to treat some of the clinic’s most complex cases independently.
James’s leadership and organisational skills contribute significantly to the overall functionality of the clinic, helping with the management and training of junior staff, and ensuring that both patients and staff have a seamless experience.
Anyone who has been to the clinic and been treated by James will know his passion for football. Unusually for a Surrey man, James is an ardent Leeds United fan, steadfast in his support through better and often worse times, something we can all thank James’ Dad for, bringing him up in the traditions of his own family’s northern roots.
In his leisure time, James enjoys the benefits of staying true to his local community with a close circle of lifelong friends and family on his doorstep. So, whether it is a roast dinner back home, watching the lilywhites or the occasional night on the town, James is always an eager participant.
James did not just find his vocation at our Surbiton clinic he also found his future wife. Fortunately, there is no need to call any regulatory board as Jasmine was not a patient but a practitioner at the clinic as well. Starting as friends, James and Jasmine’s fondness for each other was evident to see and eventually dating turned into an elaborate proposal in Malta earlier this year.
James cherishes the time spent with his fiancée, especially going on holiday, and exploring new destinations, cultures, and cuisines. They are now eagerly awaiting the purchase of their first family home which is currently undergoing the survey process.
James is deeply committed to helping the local community and improving their overall health and well-being. He is enthusiastic about providing high-quality care to his patients, using his extensive knowledge and skills to alleviate pain and promote healing.
Through his work at DISC Chiropractors, James aims to make a positive impact in people’s lives, ensuring they receive the best possible care and support on their journey to optimal health.

As many of you know in 2017 our Clinic Director had an accident which left him with an L5 disc herniation & subsequent sciatica, this incident has since focused the direction of the clinic, becoming a specialist center for the treatment of disc injuries and nerve related pain. We came to realise there is a vast group of back pain patients who were currently being overlooked by mainstream medicine whilst at the same time being considered ‘too hot to handle’ for man of my manual therapy colleagues (Chiropractors, Osteopaths & Physiotherapists).
