Pain in the Foot & Ankle

The importance of good function in the foot and ankle complex is often highly underestimated, it has been approximated that up to 60% of the body’s shock absorption comes from a functioning foot arch, and when not operating to full capacity the impact of the foot striking the ground is passed up into the knee, hip, and lower back.

Dysfunction in the mechanics can additionally lead to conditions such as Plantar Fasciitis (inflammation on the base of the foot), Achilles Tendinopathy (back of the heel) and even Shin Splints (front of the lower leg). Additionally, alignment issues with the ankle must be factored into any conversation regarding pain patterns in this region, with patients who are prone to rolling/spraining their ankle particularly susceptible.
